PART 1 OF 3: FOOD RELATED ITEMS - Making your own has SO many benefits other than just saving money, but saving on your health too!
BROTH - I make my own beef, turkey, chicken & vegetable broth and I can it. I save my vegetable scraps (THAT WOULD OTHERWISE GO IN THE GARBAGE) in ziploc bags in the freezer, and when its time to make broth, I pull them out and add to the makings of broth. NOTE: You do need a "pressure canner" to can broths, so if you don't have one, ask around your friends, family & neighbours to borrow one.
CANNED BEANS - I can my own beans - chickpeas, kidney beans, black beans and pork & beans. Beans are not expensive in the grocery store, but the convenience factor and no added preservatives alone is enough to convince me to make them.
